Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman is out indefinitely after getting medical treatment for a non-football related condition, it was reported on Wednesday. This surprising news comes as the college football season is just weeks away, when Wake Forest kicks off their season on Sept. 1 against VMI. It is uncertain as to who might step in as quarterback in Hartman's absence.

Hartman, a fifth-year junior, threw for 4,228 yards and 39 touchdowns last season with only 14 interceptions as Wake Forest went 11-3 and beat Rutgers in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl. He is also Wake Forest's all-time leader in touchdown passes with 72.
