Duke hasn't been overwhelmingly successful at home this season. The Blue Devils are just 6-8 ATS at Cameron Indoor. Compared to the trend for Saturday's opponent, though, Duke has been practically dominant at 6-8 ATS.
That's because Virginia Tech is one of the worst Division 1 college basketball teams covering road spreads this year. The Hokies are just 1-8 ATS on the road for an 11.1% cover rate that ranks college basketball's fifth worst. Virginia Tech was just a road underdog twice within that span, going 0-2 ATS in that pair of games.
Though Duke only reached the 20-win mark earlier this week, it wasn't for a lack of home success, as the Blue Devils are 14-0 straight-up at Cameron this season.
The Blue Devils enjoyed a margin of victory greater than 16 points per game at home, but we haven't seen the spreads adjust regularly to a level that allows success for Duke bettors.
Saturday might be where that changes as Virginia Tech lost four of its past six road games by a margin greater than this matchup's spread.
