UL Monroe vs. Army Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-22-2022

This Saturday, the (2-5) UL Monroe Warhawks and the (2-4) Army Black Knights will match up in the eighth week of the 2022 college football season. Kickoff will be at noon EST inside Michie Stadium. Neither of these teams has started this season how they would have liked, but they will be looking to turn it around in this one.

The UL Monroe Warhawks are coming into this one after losing to South Alabama, 41-34. The Warhawk's defense struggled in that one, as they allowed their opponents to record 420 passing yards. Their secondary will have to be better in this one if they want to battle Army on the road.

The Black Knights are entering this one after taking down Colgate, 42-17. Army looked very efficient with the ball, as they allowed their rushing attack to carry them to victory. They ran for 467 yards in that one and didn't complete one pass through the air.

The Warhawks have not started this season how they would have liked, as they will be looking to snap this two-game losing streak in this one. Coastal Carolina and South Alabama dominated them in the past two weeks, as their defense continued to struggle. On offense, UL Monroe is scoring 22.3 points per game and averaging 347.6 total yards. This is the 107th most points scored per game and the 105th most yards. They have struggled to efficiently move the ball, as they aren't good on the ground or through the air. I am expecting the Warhawks to start Chandler Rogers at quarterback, as he has already thrown 10 touchdowns this season and only four interceptions. UL Monroe is averaging 213.6 passing yards per game, which s the 96th least in the nation. They are also only running for 134 rushing yards per game, as this is only the 94th most. Watch for them to get the ball to Tyrone Howell, as he leads the Wa rhawks with 505 yards and four touchdowns. He has been the top receiver for the Warhawks this season. I also expect them to get the ball to Malik Jackson, as he has already recorded five touchdowns. He is only averaging 3.7 yards per carry, though.

On defense, the Warhawks have struggled over the past two weeks. They surrendered 28 points to Coastal Carolina and 41 to South Alabama. UL Monroe is currently allowing 36.1 points per game, which is the 120th most in the country. They are also surrendering 422.7 total yards per game, as this is the 104th most. Luckily, they are better against the run, as they are only allowing the 77th most rushing yards per game. Their front seven has continued to rally toward the ball, as this has been the strongest part of their defense. Unfortunately, UL Monroe is surrendering 272 passing yards per game, which is the 109th most in the country. Their secondary has continued to give up big plays, as they have struggled against the pass this season. I would recommend watching Tristan Driggers, as he leads the team with 39 tackles this season and one sack.
