Tuley's Takes: Tuesday MLB Best Bets 6/27

Monday Best Bet Results

Monday was a painful day in and out of the Tuley’s Takes home office.

For starters, I had a chipped tooth filled. Well, because of the local anesthetic, it wasn’t painful as much as it was annoying as it took more than 2 hours including the X-rays and waiting for the dentist.

But I wasn’t feeling any better even after the anesthetic wore off as my slump continued as I lost on the Reds First 5 Innings +115 at the Orioles as they trailed 7-1 after 5 innings and also lost on +130 money line as they lost 10-3.

I pushed on my secondary play on the White Sox First 5 +110 at the Angels as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead but were tied 1-1 after 5.

At least I passed on Florida +115 vs. LSU in the College World Series title game as the Tigers routed the Gators 18-4.

Let’s try to get back on the winning track with a full 15-game schedule on Tuesday. Note: as I wrote yesterday, I don’t have an official play yet on the USFL Championship Game on Saturday. As we discussed with VSiN colleague Greg Peterson on “The Greg Peterson Experience” show on Sunday night, the Birmingham Stallions opened as 6-point favorites over the Pittsburgh Maulers. I want to play the underdog but was hoping the line would be at least 7. I also wrote “I fully expect to get that later in the week as the public will probably be looking to bet the Stallions as the defending champions, plus anyone cashing on them as the chalk in their rout on Sunday won’t be deterred from betting them again at any price.” While some books went to Birmingham -6.5 on Monday, Circa Sports went to 7. However, I’m still going to wait to lock in my bet as we’ll wait to see if it goes higher.

MLB Tuesday Best Bets

Rockies First 5 Innings +1.5 +105 and +210 full-game ML vs. Dodgers: We haven’t had many opportunities for “swagger/anti-swagger” plays as I mentioned on my Sunday night appearance on “The Greg Peterson Experience” that no MLB team had a winning or losing streak of more than 2 games after the Dodgers lost on Sunday Night Baseball. That snapped their 4-game winning streak, so this is a “mini-anti-swagger” play. In addition, the Dodgers are traveling after playing on SNB, though I would prefer if they didn’t get a day off in-between. Still, let’s take the Rockies – who just won 2 of 3 vs. the Angels despite losing 25-1 on Saturday – with the generous plus-price on the +1.5 First 5 run line with Connor Seabold vs. Clayton Kershaw.

Brewers First 5 Innings +120 at Mets: The Brewers (41-37) have been inconsistent all season, but they’ve still been better than the Mets (35-43), so I’m surprised they’re such big dogs in this game and, for our purposes, in the first 5 innings. We also get Julio Teheran (2-2, 1.53 ERA) vs. David Peterson (1-6, 8.08 ERA). I almost made this my top play, but the +1.5 on the Rockies’ First 5 wager was the tie-breaker in what I feel is the more likely winner, though obviously hope to win on both these games.
