Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-11-2022

The Houston Astros (71-40) will wrap up their three-game series with the Texas Rangers (48-61) Thursday. The Astros won the opener 7-5 on Tuesday, and Wednesday's game was not complete at the time of this preview.

The Texas Rangers are on their way to another losing season, but when Martin Perez has been on the mound, the losses have been few. But losing is what Perez and the Rangers did on Tuesday. Texas jumped out to a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth, but it would not last long, as Perez served up a grand slam to Aledmys Diaz to tie the game on the way to Houston's 7-5 win.

Rookie southpaw Cole Ragan, will make his second career start on Thursday. Last Thursday, Ragan allowed one unearned run in a 3-2 win over the White Sox but he did not get the decision. In 18 starts in the minor leagues this season, Ragan went 8-5 with a 3.04 ERA in 18 starts, striking out 113 batters in 94 2/3 innings.
