Texas Rangers vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-3-2022

Texas will be looking to snap its six-game losing streak when it faces Boston on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers were swept by Houston earlier this week and have lost the first two games of this series. Boston is on a three-game winning streak, but it is still way out of the playoff picture.

Texas was a decent ream during the first half of the season, but its level really dropped off after the All-Star break. The Rangers were able to gain some traction several weeks ago, winning six games in an eight-game stretch. They have proceeded to lose six consecutive games since then, dripping two games against Detroit, Houston and Boston. Texas is on a seven-game road trip that concludes with a rematch against Houston early next week. The Rangers are 13.5 games back of Toronto for the final American League Wild Card spot, so they are virtually out of the playoff hunt.

They have been a solid offensive team this season, ranked No. 14 in the MLB in batting average (.244). First baseman Nate Lowe leads the way with 146 hits, including 22 home runs. The Rangers have a ton of power in their lineup, as Adolis Garcia, Marcus Semien and Corey Seager have all recorded at least 20 homers. They are facing a Boston pitching staff that is No. 25 with an ERA of 4.55. Texas has not officially announced its starting pitcher, but left-hander Kolby Allard is a likely option. He has not started since the middle of June and has not pitched in the big leagues since last month, but the Rangers need a spot starter for Saturday’s game. He has a brutal 8.47 ERA across nine appearances this year.
