The St. Louis Cardinals (21-27) will begin a four-game series on the road Monday against the Cincinnati Reds (19-27). The Cardinals won 12 of the 19 head-to-head games last season.
The St. Louis Cardinals have been a staple of consistency. The Cardinals have finished each of their last 15 seasons with a winning record but have gotten off to a rocky start in 2023. After going 11-24 through the first 35 games, the Cardinals have picked up steam going 10-3 over their last 13. The recent surge includes winning three out of four games against the Los Angeles Dodgers including a 10-5 win on Sunday. The Cardinals got four runs off of Clayton Kershaw in 3.2 innings to get off to a hot start and also added three runs in the fifth and three more runs in the seventh inning.

Left-handed starter Jordan Montgomery (2-6, 4.21 ERA) will start on Monday. Montgomery has been strong on the road where he is 1-3 with a 2.55 ERA in four games. Last season Montgomery faced the Reds once and allowed three runs in 5.1 innings and picked up the loss. This season St. Louis is just 2-7 in the nine games started by Mongomery.
