Having managed to triumph in just three of their past 13 contests, currently riding a two-game losing skid, the St. Louis Blues (6th in Central Division) will hope for better luck while visiting the Washington Capitals (6th in Metropolitan), who have won two of their previous three outings.

The St. Louis Blues (29-33-5) got served their second straight defeat (0-2-0) after following up Sunday’s 5-3 domestic setback against the Vegas Golden Knights with a 8-5 loss at the hands of the Minnesota Wild at Enterprise Center on Wednesday. St. Louis, which went 3-for-5 with the man-advantage, led 3-1 before the first intermission, but conceded three consecutive snipes in a span of 1:58 at the start of the middle frame before tying the proceedings at 4-4 midway through the contest, only for the Knights to bury four more tallies in succession subsequently. Pavel Buchnevich (23 goals, 61 points this year) bagged a hat trick, while Jakub Vrana (5 goals, 6 points) got on the scoreboard twice. The Blues are 3-8-2 in their last 13 fixtures.

Goalie Jordan Binnington (22-24-5 for the season with a 3.39 GAA and a .892 save perce ntage) conceded five goals on 24 shots before being given a match penalty after inciting a brawl at 12:25 of the second period on Wednesday, with Thomas Greiss (7-9-0 on the year with a 3.50 GAA and a .900 save percentage) making eight saves in relief. With Binnington suspended for two games following the incident, Greiss is set to face Washington, with him having gone 6-5-1 against the Capitals previously with a 2.33 GAA and a .924 save percentage. The Blues, meanwhile, are 13th in least goals scored per game this season (3.09), 5th in most goals allowed on average (3.72), 20th in power play (21.0%) and 22nd in penalty kill (76.2%).
