This year marks the 16th all-time appearance for the Spanish men's national soccer team. Spain previously qualified for this tournament in 1934, 1950, 1962, 1966, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018.

La Roja's appearance in 2018 was its most recent prior to this year, however, the Spanish failed to make it beyond the Round of 16 for the third time in their last four appearances.

The 2026 World Cup will be Spain's 17th appearance if the country qualifies.
