A pair of inconsistent programs from the Golden State who call the Pac-12 home do battle on the hardwood looking to earn a conference victory. The USC Trojans are on the road as they travel to take on the Stanford Cardinal Saturday night. USC comes in off an 83-77 overtime loss on the road to Cal Wednesday night, failing to cover the line as a three-point underdog, in their previous contest. Stanford was downed 82-74 at home by UCLA in their previous contest, losing outright as a 3.5-point favorite, Wednesday night. In the all-time series between the teams, the Cardinal own a narrow 84-83 advantage but the Trojans have won the last two matchups. That includes a 93-79 home win in the first meeting this season on January 6.

USC lost for the seventh time in eight games as they were beaten in overtime on the road by Cal Wednesday night. The Trojans fell to 9-14 overall and sit in the basement of the Pac-12 with a 3-9 mark in conference play this season. Against Cal, USC trailed by 11 at the half and by 16 with 17:24 to play in regulation before storming back. The Trojans tied the game on Isaiah Collier’s free throw with 27 seconds remaining to force overtime. USC battled with Cal before giving up a tie-breaking three-pointer with 1:31 to play in the extra session. They were unable to get even again and went down in defeat. The Trojans shot 43.8% from the field, including six of 15 from three-point range, missed nine of 24 free throw attempts and lost the rebounding battle 54-27. Collier led the Trojans with 20 points off the bench in the loss.

The Trojans average 74.7 points per game on the season, putting them 169th in the nation in scoring offense. USC comes into this one grabbing 36.1 rebounds a night while they dish out 15.8 assists a night. The Trojans are below average on the defensive end of the floor, ranking 252nd by allowing 74.3 points per game this season. Boogie Ellis leads the team and is one of three players in double figures as he puts up 16.8 points, 3.7 rebounds plus 3.2 assists a game this season. Isaiah Collier (15.6 points, 4.1 assists) and Kobe Johnson (10.4 points, 4.3 boards, 3.5 assists) provide solid secondary scoring. Bronny James, Joshua Morgan, DJ Rodman, Vincent Iwuchukwu, Oziyah Sellers, Harrison Hornery, Kijani Wright and Arrinten Page are all averaging solid minutes for coach Andy Enfield this season. USC shoots 44.7% from the field as a team this season. The Trojans drill 7.9 three-pointers per game while shooting 35.4% from beyond the arc. US C is below average at the line as they shoot 69.9% at the stripe as a team this season, which is 251st in Division I.
