SMU (8-3 conference record) squeaked by North Texas on Sunday, pushing their winning streak to four games. Although NCAA.com's net rankings has the team ranked 42nd nationally, the Mustangs aren't projected to make the NCAA Tournament right now. If they keep stacking wins, they'll force their way in. SMU's strength is a defense that has kept three straight foes under 70 points. They allow 64.6 points per game. The Mustangs hold opponents to 39.2% shooting (10th nationally) and 29.1% on three-pointers (15th). Their foes take 17.7 trips to the free throw line. Aided by a positive rebounding (+5.6) and turnover (+1.6) margin, this group is tough to score on.

Then, there's an offense that operates at a slower pace but still manages 76.2 points per contest. SMU shoots 46.2% from the floor and 34.2% from beyond the arc. Free throw shooting (68.9%) is an issue. The Mustangs grab 13.7 offensive boards per game and turn the ball over 11.4 times. SMU put up 80 points during their first date with Tulane. Can they do it again now that they're on the road?
