Amazingly, the San Jose Sharks will be playing their first game after the all-star break. San Jose ended the first half on a high note, earning a point in a 3-2 OT loss to Anaheim and they are 3-1-2 in their last six games. However, the Sharks begin with back-to-back games on the road, taking on Winnipeg on Wednesday. This preview was written prior to the conclusion of that contest. San Jose is 5-19-3 on the road.

Goals by Anthony Duclair and Marc-Edouard Vlasic gave San Jose a one-goal advantage after two periods, but Anaheim scored with 61 seconds left in the contest, and then earned the game-winner with a little under a minute left in the extra session. This has been a struggling Sharks offense, producing two goals in each of their last three games. San Jose is 31st in goa ls per game (2.08) and is 22nd on the power-play (16.9%).

Kaapo Kahkonen (6-14-2, 3.55, .901) played very well in the loss, stopping 31 shots. Mackenzie Blackwood (8-17-3, 3.51, .899) will likely get the start in this contest. He has earned victories in each of his last three starts, allowing six total goals over his last four starts. The Sharks are last in goals allowed per game (3.82).
