San Francisco Giants vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-22-2023

The San Francisco Giants (21-24, 3rd NL West) open a three-game interleague series at Target Field on Monday against the Minnesota Twins (25-21, 1st AL Central). San Francisco was defeated by the Miami Marlins 1-0 on Saturday snapping a four-game winning streak for the Giants. Minnesota snapped a two-game losing streak with a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday as Joey Gallo hit a homer for the fourth time in the last seven games. San Francisco will play without four pitchers as well as the position players Joey Bart, Luis Gonzalez, Joc Pederson, Roberto Perez and Austin Slater. Minnesota will play without five pitchers and position players Gilberto Celestino, Nick Gordon, Max Kepler, Royce Lewis and Jorge Polanco.

The San Francisco Giants are missing several hitters such as Luis Gonzalez, Joc Pederson and Joey Bart, while others have just recently returned to the lineup such as Mike Yastrzemski. San Francisco is 20th in team batting average at .240, 18th in on-base percentage with .316 and 14th in slugging percentage at .409. San Francisco has scored 194 runs which is 21st. Michael Conforto is the leader in home runs for San Francisco with 8, while LaMonte Wade Jr and J.D. Davis each has hit seven homers. Davis is the leader in RBI with 23 and Conforto is second with 19. San Francisco has hit 60 doubles, three triples and 63 home runs in 45 games.

 

On the mound, San Francisco is 16th in ERA at 4.27 and 20th in WHIP at 1.34. San Francisco's starting rotation has 17 Quality Starts which is 14th and the pitching staff is allowing opposing hitters to .260 which is 24th. Logan Webb is the leader in strikeouts for San Francisco with 65 and Scott Anderson has a team best four victories. Alex Cobb gets the nod on the mound Monday.
