San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-26-2022

The San Francisco Giants continue their road trip through the NL West Division with a three-game series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks. The Giants watched their playoff hopes take a dip over the weekend as they dropped four-straight games to the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The Diamondbacks sit in last-place in the NL West Division but are right behind the Rockies for fourth place. The pitching matchup for Tuesday's second game of the series features all-star lefty Carlos Rodon (8-5, 2.95) of the Giants taking on fellow lefty Tyler Gilbert (0-3, 5.34) of the Diamondbacks. First pitch is scheduled for 940pm EST.

The San Francisco Giants may have already conceded the NL West Division to the front-running Dodgers as they trail them by nearly 20 games with the trade deadline looming. Despite that, there is still time for the Giants to right the ship and put themselves smack dab in the playoff picture. San Francisco has been rumored to be in on many of the possible trade candidates out there but will most likely be searching for bullpen help as the deadline nears. After being swept in four games by the Dodgers, the Giants traveled to Arizona hoping for redemption against the last place Diamondbacks. On Monday night, the Giants bats were silence as they were held to just three hits in a 7-0 shutout defeat.

Despite rumors of the Giants possibly being in on a deal involving superstar outfielder Juan Soto, offense has not been a huge issue for the Giants this season. San Francisco ranks fifth in runs scored this season and is 13th in slugging percentage. They are also 9th in on base percentage for the season. On the mound on Tuesday night will be left-hander Carlos Rodon. Rodon made the NL All-Star team this season on the strength of his sub 3 ERA and 11.3 K/9 average. In the month of July Rodon is 1-1 with a 4.13 ERA thus far in four starts. One of those starts was against the D-Backs at home where Rodon was roughed up for five hits and four runs in just five innings of work.
