San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-23-2022

The San Diego Padres will be looking for their fourth straight victory over the New York Mets in Saturday’s NL showdown. Not even Citi Field could save the Mets from having their offense put in hush mode by Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish and company. Blake Snell will try to pick right back up where Darvish left off when starting on Saturday against Mets’ righty Chris Bassitt.

Yu Darvish was throwing fire in Friday’s opener against the Mets.

He shut down the No. 5-ranked run-scoring offense at the plate and sent them packing with a loss in their home building. In the previous three head-to-head games, the Padres have held the Mets to a combined three runs, along with completely dominating offensively.

It has been a lopsided series in recent outings, and the Padres are hoping to keep it that way on Saturday with Blake Snell (5.22 ERA) starting on the mound. They obviously hope his control is better than it was against the Colorado Rockies, who blasted him for five earned runs in a game where he also walked six batters in 3.2 innings of work.

Things got downright ugly.

But Snell was been brilliant in his recent outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he pitched a gem against the San Francisco Gi ants. He can turn things around against the Mets as well. And if the bats for the Padres show up again in this matchup, it could be smooth sailing for the 29-year-old veteran.
