Rodgers' Potentially Season-Ending Injury Rocks Jets Odds

Following the New York Jets' thrilling overtime win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, ESPN broadcaster Joe Buck described the result as a “Pyrrhic victory,” as the team braced for devastating news regarding the injury status of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, but'Jets coach Robert Saleh said in the postgame press conference there are indications that the four-time NFL MVP suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Such an injury would sideline Rodgers for the season.

Consequently, the odds on the Jets to win the Super Bowl got significantly longer at major mobile sportsbooks across the nation as Monday night gave way to Tuesday morning. FanDuel listed the Jets at 65/1 to win the Super Bowl early Tuesday, slightly higher than DraftKings, where Gang Green is 60/1. Ahead of the first Sunday of the NFL season, DraftKings gave the Jets odds of 16/1 to capture the Lombardi Trophy, good for eighth-shortest in the league.

Ironically, the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers' former team, now have shorter odds than the Jets to win the Super Bowl, priced at 50/1 at DraftKings. Jordan Love threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns in the Packers' 38-20 win over the Bears, his first start as Rodgers' full-time replacement.
