The Quinnipiac Bobcats are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Canisius Golden Griffins Sunday afternoon. Quinnipiac comes in off a 79-73 overtime road loss to Niagara in their previous contest Friday night, losing outright as a 2.5-point favorite. Canisius was routed 80-59 by Iona at home Friday night, failing to cover the line as a 12-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Golden Griffins own a 13-7 advantage but the Bobcats won the first meeting this season, taking an 87-82 home win on January 23.

Quinnipiac dropped their second straight and their third in the last five games as they blew a double-digit lead in the second half to lose to Niagara. The Bobcats fell to 17-8 overall and stand fifth in the conference with an 8-6 mark, leaving them three games behind Rider for the top spot. Against Niagara, Quinnipiac led by as many as 14 in the first half, by 10 at intermission and held a 45-28 advantage with 14:24 remaining in regulation only to see the Purple Eagles charge back. The Bobcats trailed 60-57 with 22 seconds to play before scoring four of the final five points in regulation to tie the game at 61. In overtime, Quinnipiac was outscored 10-2 out of the gate and never recovered as they went down in defeat. The Bobcats shot 37.7% from the field, including seven of 20 from three-point range, and went just eight of 18 from the free throw line. Luis Kortright led Quinnipiac with 25 points in the loss.

The Bobcats enter this game 157th in scoring offense with 72.6 points per game. Quinnipiac collects an average of 38.7 boards a night (28th) and dishes out 13.1 assists per contest. Defense has been solid for the team as the Bobcats are 110th in scoring defense as the team allows 67.2 points per game. Dezi Jones is one of four players averaging in double figures and leads the team with 11.7 points and 3.8 assists per game this season. Ike Nweke (10.7 points, 6.3 rebounds) and Matt Balanc (11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds) each are averaging in double figures. Luis Kortright (10.5 points, four boards), Paul Otieno, Tyrese Williams, Tymu Chenery, JJ Riggins, Savion Lewis and Alexis Reyes are key rotation pieces for Baker Dunleavy and the Bobcats. Quinnipiac is shooting 43.1% from the field as a team on the year. The Bobcats knock down an average of eight threes a game while they shoot 35.3% as a team from downtown. Quinnipiac is having major proble ms at the charity stripe, knocking down only 64.7% of their attempts on the season. That mark is just 341st in Division I and may prove to be an issue as we get deeper into conference play.
