Pitcher Prop Prediction 1: Luke Weaver Under 14.5 Outs Recorded (+125)
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luke Weaver hasn’t enjoyed his 2023 campaign as he is 2-3 on the season with a 6.80 ERA and 67 strikeouts across only 86 innings of work.
He has fallen short of completing a full five innings in five of his last seven starts despite pitching six full innings in his last outing against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Now he is about to hit a brick wall against a Chicago Cubs lineup that has scored a combined 42 runs in the first three games of this series including 20 run & 16 run performances in their last two games.
The Cubs offense ranks #1 on-base percentage on the season and across the last 30 days and #1 in wRC+ over the last 30 days against right-handed pitching.
Current Cubs sluggers are a combined 14-34 (.326) with four home runs and 12 RBI against Weaver. The Cubbies are still sitting in third place in the NL Central but are now only three games behind the first-place Reds.
They will be motivated and will licking their chops with Weaver on the mound, take advantage of the +125 odds on his out recorded under 14.5 today at Wrigley!
Pitcher Prop Prediction 2: Jameson Taillon Under 17.5 Outs Recorded (-125)
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jameson Taillon is struggling in 2023 with a 5-6 record, 5.46 ERA and only 77 strikeouts across 89 innings of work.
He has really struggled with longevity, falling short of completing six innings in 15 of 18 outings (83% to the under) while landing on 18 outs exactly in two of the other three games.
This includes a performance against the Cincinnati Reds on May 27th where he allowed four runs on six hits in only 4.2 innings of work. Keep in mind, that was before Ella De La Cruz joined the team and the Reds lineup caught fire.
Wrigley Field has been a house of horrors for Taillon where he has a 6.43 ERA and .317 OBA compared to a road ERA of 4.28 and OBA of .201.
This series has produced runs by the truckload and while the Cubs have done the heavy lifting, 21 runs across three games from the Reds is nothing to sneeze at. Bottom line, Taillon has fallen short of 18 outs in 15 of 18 games and we get reasonable juice at -125 odds.
