Pirates vs Angels Prediction & Pick

Tonight, the Pirates have the displeasure of having to face AL MVP favorite Shohei Ohtani (-850 on FanDuel Sportsbook). While the dual-threat phenom has made waves with his MLB-leading 35 home runs, he's also been solid on the mound at Angel Stadium, going 4-3 with a 2.74 ERA in 10 previous home starts.

It's going to be even harder for the Pirates to win if starting pitcher Johan Oviedo can't end his bad luck. On top of having not won a start since May 19, the Cuban hurler is 0-6 with a 4.89 ERA in his last seven starts. Given t he Angels' firepower (5.00 runs per game, No. 6 in MLB), it could be a long night for Oviedo.

It's a no-brainer to take the Angels winning. Ohtani pitching and hitting tonight gives them a clear-cut advantage, as does the fact that they get to play at home while the Pirates are 3-14 SU in their last 17 road games. After sweeping the Yankees, I don't see Los Angeles getting stopped by a lowly team like Pittsburgh.

Final Score Prediction:'Angels: 7 | Pirates: 3

Pirates vs Angels Best Bet

Gett ing on base isn't an issue for Shohei Ohtani, which is why I'm taking him to record 3+ total bases tonight. The generational talent is averaging four total bases in his last seven outings while batting .423 with 11 hits and four home runs. Furthermore, he made good on this prop five times during that span.

Throw in the fact that he's averaging 3.2 TBs in his last 10 outings at Angel Stadium and it's even easier to like Ohtani's chances to pull off this prop.
