A nine-game losing streak takes the Philadelphia Flyers (7th in Metropolitan Division) to a road outing against the New York Islanders (2nd in Metropolitan), who are riding a three-game winning run.

The 2022 NHL Thanksgiving Showdown turned into a disaster for the Philadelphia Flyers (7-9-5), who were dealt their ninth defeat in a row (0-6-3) after being drubbed with a count of 6-1 by the Pittsburgh Penguins at Wells Fargo Center yesterday. Philly outshot the visitors 30-29 and went 3-for-3 on penalty kill, but failed to convert on their only power-play chance and tallied just once in the third period after the Pens had already scored two snipes in each of the two previous frames. Kevin Hayes (6 goals, 20 points this year) lit the lamp for the Flyers, who are riding their longest skid since losing 13 in a row (0-10-3) less than a year ago.

Goalie Carter Hart (6-5-4 on the season with a 2.85 GAA and a .915 save percentage) conceded four markers on 21 shots in the first 33-and-a-half minutes of the game yesterday before being pu lled for Felix Sandstrom (1-4-1 with a 3.14 GAA and a .901 save percentage), who made eight saves in relief. Sandstrom has never faced the New York Islanders before, while Hart has gone 3-3-3 versus the Isles historically with a 3.21 GAA and a .883 save percentage. The Flyers are top of the league in least goals scored per game this year (2.43), 14th in most goals allowed on average (3.24), 2nd from the bottom in power play (14.7%; 10-for-68) and 23rd in penalty kill (75.4%; 49-for-65).
