Padres vs Tigers Prediction & Pick
After a solid 5-2 run on their seven-game road trip, the Tigers finally return to Comerica Park. Unfortunately, home hasn't been too welcoming lately. The Tigers have lost six of their last nine games in the Motor City, getting outscored 41-26 on aggregate along the way.
At the same time, it isn't like the Padres have been all that solid on the road. They're 2-4 SU in their last six away games and have also lost five of their previous six trips to Comerica Park. It doesn't help that San Diego plans on starting Seth Lugo, who gave up five earned runs and two homers over 5 1/3 innings in his las t road start on July 16.
The Padres might be the favorites, but I'm taking the Tigers to stand tall at home. They're feeling good about themselves after a successful road trip and should be able to build off that momentum when you take their recent dominance over San Diego into account.
It won't be a pretty win, but the Tigers will still get the job done in the end.

I'm backing the Over on the 9-run total as the best bet. After all, the Over has been a constant for both sides, going 6-1 in the Tigers' previous seven matchups against the National League while being 8-3 in the Padres' last 11 road games overall.
San Diego and Detroit have also exceeded their projected total four times in their past five meetings, averaging 11 runs per contest along the way.
