It should come as no surprise that the MAC is only likely to get one team in the NCAA Tournament this season, and that bid will go to the MAC Conference Tournament Champion. Joe Lunardi's Bracketology currently gives that spot to Akron, as they sit at the top of the league, and has them playing as a 13-seed. Seeding for the conference tournament becomes important in these situations, and Ohio is currently 5th with a 7-4 record. They were on a four game win streak in the league, before losing to Arkansas State in the battle with the Sun Belt Conference. Ohio was led by guard Jaylin Hunter with 20 points in the loss.

Hunter is a 6'0 senior point guard, he leads the team in scoring with 14.8 PPG, and also leads in assists with 5.0 per game. For a small guard, he is impactful in the rebounding game, grabbing 4.5 boards per game. Hunter is hot as of late, he has scored 20 or more in his last three, including a 32-point game against Ball State. Shereef Mitchell is another scorer out of the backcourt, he is a 6'1 senior scoring 13.3 PPG and contributing 4.0 RPG. Mitchell scored in double figures in eight of his last nine games. Their top shooter comes out of the frontcourt, 6'8 junior forward AJ Clayton has made 49 threes on 40.5% shooting from deep, and averages 11.8 PPG.

The Ohio Bobcats rank 171st overall according to KenPom. They are better with the ball, as they rank 102nd in offensive efficiency, and only 278th in defensive efficiency. They play at the 192nd fastest tempo in college hoops.
