Oakland Athletics vs. New York Yankees Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-9-2023

The New York Yankees (19-17) will go for their second straight win on Tuesday when they host the big league's worst team, the Oakland A's (8-28). The Yankees won 7-2 on Monday.

The Oakland Athletics have lost 25 of their last 31 games and are the only team in MLB that has yet to win 10 games. The near future does not look very bright, and the more distant future looks bleak for local A's diehard fans as well. There is currently a plan for the franchise to move to Las Vegas by 2027.

The A's are 27th, scoring 4.0 runs per game, 20th with 1.05 home runs per game, and 25th with a .231 batting average. The bullpen and defense have both been horrible. The A's relievers are dead last with a 6.70 ERA along with the fielding, which is -22 in runs saved this year, seven runs worse than any other team. On Tuesday, the A's will start Drew Rucinski (0-2, 7.71 ERA). Rucinski entered the big leagues in 2014 but spent 2019-22 in Korea.
