Northwestern State at Baylor – 12/20/22 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Northwestern State Demons will remain in the Lone Star state and head up to Waco to face the Baylor Bears in non-conference action this Tuesday from the Ferrell Center. Baylor has won all three meetings, including last year's matchup, 104-68.

Northwestern State fell to 8-3 after losing to Rice in Houston. The Demons suffered their first loss in nearly a month, racking up seven respectable D1 wins during that span, before being blown out by the Owls. Northwestern State is scoring 74.7 points per game, while allowing 75.7 ppg, and shooting 41.4% from the field.

New head coach Corey Gipson brought a few of his guys over from Missouri State and they’ve helped change the culture in Natchitoches. Senior guards Demarcus Sharp and Jamonta’ Black have led the charge early on for the Demons. Demarcus Sharp dropped 30+ in back-to-back wins over SFA and Southern Miss, and he leads NSU in scoring (16.3) and assists (4.1). Black scored 25 in the upset win over TCU, then topped it with a 31-point showing against in-state foe UL-Monroe. Black is scoring 13.9 ppg, while fellow former MOST guard Isaac Haney  is third on the team with 12.8 ppg.
