The North Texas Mean Green were in great shape in conference play, they started off with a 5-1 league record, and an at-large bid looked to be within reach. They proceeded to lose their next three games, going down to #22 FAU, UAB and USF. They bounced back by going into Tulsa and winning easily. They jumped on Tulsa early, getting out to an 18-5 lead and never looked back. North Texas was led by forward Aaron Scott with 18 points in the game.

The Mean Green are led in scoring by 6'0 sophomore guard Jason Edwards with 18.0 PPG. He is fifth in the conference in scoring and is the top shooter on the team with 52 made threes on 34.4% shooting from deep. Edwards had 15 in the win over Tulsa, but scored exactly 31 in each of his two previous games. Aaron Scott is their top scorer in the frontcourt, he is a 6'7 forward averaging 12.0 PPG and 6.1 RPG. Scott is coming off a double-double as he has 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Tulsa. Their final scorer in double figures is 6'5 wing Rubin Jones, he is averaging 11.7 PPG to go with 3.8 APG, but he is questionable with a hamstring injury. Guard CJ Noland is another scorer getting 9.8 PPG, but he is battling a groin injury and is also questionable.

North Texas is currently ranked 75th in the nation according to KenPom. They are 130th in offensive efficiency and 32nd in defensive efficiency. They are one of the slo west teams in the nation, ranking 361st in tempo out of 362 Division I teams. The AAC is projected to get two teams into the Big Dance according to Bracketology, but North Texas would likely need to win the AAC Tournament to get in.
