Tuesday's NHL top picks

This total has barely moved since opening, which is odd given the Montreal Canadiens' goaltending situation.

The Canadiens called up youngster Cayden Primeau to start in Philadelphia. The son of former Flyers captain Keith hasn't been impressive in 19 NHL games with a .873 save percentage and 4.19 goals-against average.

Carter Hart is still a solid goalie for the Flyers, but they've actually been scoring more recently, with 26 goals in their last six games.

Both teams have been trending toward the Over recently, and the line hasn't moved to reflect Primeau starting, though it may have been baked into the opening odds. Nevertheless, there should be plenty of goals in Philly on Tuesday.

The Hurricanes blew out the Lightning 6-0 a few weeks ago, yet there's a bit of money coming in on the Bolts for Tuesday. However, the Hurricanes are the play here at only -135, with FanDuel featuring Carolina at -142.

The Lightning have lost four straight games while the Hurricanes have won three of their last five. Tampa Bay also struggles mightily on the road at 17-19-1 while Carolina is 25-9-3 at home.

Jesse Puljujarvi is questionable for the Canes, but he doesn't bring enough of an impact to really sway this line. Carolina boasts a good foundation that can play well in front of any goaltender, and rookie Pyotr Kochetkov will likely start Tuesday.

The Kings opened at +115 and even moved up to +120 on Monday night before settling here between +105 (D raftKings) and the favorable +112 at BetRivers.

Los Angeles is playing terrific hockey with three straight wins and points in 12 consecutive games (10-0-2). The Flames are starting to get a few more bounces, but they've strung two wins together just once since the All-Star break.

Joonas Korpisalo has been outstanding for the Kings since coming over from Columbus. He's 4-0-1 in five starts with just nine goals allowed on 127 shots (1.77 GAA, .929 SV%).

The Kings have been the better team this season, are hot lately, and they just beat the Flames 8-2. Take the plus-odds and run, especially with the seven cents of value at BetRivers.

Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse is riding a five-game point streak, and he's recorded a point in eight of his last 10 contests. In fact, he's been pretty hot over the past month-plus with a point in 15 of 22 games since Feb. 11.

Edmonton is a high-scoring team, and the total for this one is set at seven. Both sides should be able to put up at least a few goals, and Nurse has been active offensively.

Caesars is hanging a pretty good line here as well, with Nurse to record a point ranging from +125 (BetRivers) to +135 (DraftKings) at other books.
