It took 7 periods with just 12 seconds to spare, but the Panthers pulled out a Game 1 win. That win marked Florida's 8th win in their last 9 games. The Panthers are playing too well to feel comfortable fading right now. They have arguably had the most difficult path to this point and have just bullied their opponents since going down 3-1 in the opening series. Until or unless the Panthers show anything different, they continue to be a reliable play.
The Hurricanes notoriously have a very difficult barn to visit as an opponent. That did not matter for the Panthers in Game 1 and it did not matter when they visited Boston or Toronto either. Florida has gone through a gauntlet of opponents both in terms of the quality of the team and a difficult place to play.
