NBA Player Prop Predictions 1: Malcolm Brogdon
Portland Trailblazers point guard Malcolm Brogdon has taken full advantage of the injury to rookie point guard Scoot Henderson with an average of 22 points, 10.5 assists and 7 rebounds in his last two games.
His minutes have also gone through the roof with season highs of 39 and 44 minutes. What has our attention here are the potential assists with 20 and 21 in the last two games. Admittedly, one of these games did go to overtime but Brogdon only recorded one assist in those five overtime minutes.
The Blazers are extremely thin at the guard position as shooting guard Anfernee Simons recovers from thumb surgery.
The Sacramento Kings are also dealing with an injured point guard as De’Aaron Fox has already been ruled out tonight after missing the last two games with an ankle injury.
Fox and Davion Mitchell are both active defenders and this gives the Kings one less body to throw at Brogdon.
The Kings have lost back-to-back games the Houston Rockets and starting point guard Fred VanVleet recorded 12 and 5 assists in those games.
The Blazers need Brogdon to play these extended minutes because of their lack of options at the guard position. And while the Kings are favored by -8 I don’t see a blowout without Fox on the court.
The NBA Prop Pick: Malcolm Brogdon 7.5 Assists (-130 DraftKings)
NBA Player Prop Predictions 2: Kristaps Porzingis 1.5 3’s (-115 DraftKings)
Newly acquired Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis has averaged 19.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his first six games on the team. Porzingis has also shot 12-28 for 42.9% from three-point land.
He has recorded at least on three-pointer in every game and 2 or more in three of six games. This includes a 5-9 performance at Madison Square Garden in the Celtics opener.
Enter the Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers that have given the Boston faithful fits during the past few seasons. Embiid has consistently abused the smaller Celtics lineups in the paint, which is the exact reason why Porzingis was brought to town.
Porzingis will force Embiid to chase him around the perimeter to pull him from the paint and open lanes for Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Embiid will surely be late on some of these switches which will give Porzingis wide open looks on kick outs.
Considering the floor has been one three-pointer for Porzingis, we only need one of those additional looks to go through the hoop. The price on this play is jaw dropping, jump on board before it moves.
