NBA Player Prop Predictions 1: Victor Wembanyama
San Antonio Spurs #1 draft pick Victor Wembanyama has averaged 18.8 points and 8.5 rebounds on 44.1% shooting through the first eight games of his NBA career. He has actually cleared this total in half of those games with 21,18, 20 and 38 points.
However, this will be the stiffest test he’s seen by a long shot as the Timberwolves rank #1 with only 101.1 points allowed per game.
They also rank 4th in points allowed in the paint as Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns clog up lanes. Wembanyama is only 12-41 for 29.3% from beyond the arc and considering he relies in scoring in the paint, this will be a tough test for him.
While the spread is only -6.5, there is a high potential for a blowout here considering the Spurs lack of defense.
They are also dealing with Devin Vassell playing limited minutes as he works his way back from a groin injury.
We just watched Wembanyama play 21 minutes and score only 13 points in a 152-111 blowout on Monday against the Indiana Pacers. I envision something similar tonight against a defense that could easily hold him under 17.5 points if he does play full minutes.

NBA Player Prop Predictions 2: Mark Williams 22.5 Point + Rebounds (-120 DraftKings)
Charlotte Hornets starting center Mark Williams has averaged 14.6 points and 7.9 rebounds on 83% shooting from the field through the first seven games of the 2023-24 campaign.
Williams has recorded 23+ Points + Rebounds in 4 of those 7 games while falling just short with 21 in his last game against tonight’s opponent, the Washington Wizards.
The Hornets and Wizards both prefer to play up-tempo as they rank 1st and 4th in pace of play. On top of that, Washington allows the MOST points (28.06/points) and 3rd most rebounds (16.51/game) to opposing centers.
Williams did fall just short of this total against the Wizards on Monday night as he played a season low 18 minutes in what turned into a blowout.
However, Hornets head coach Steve Clifford mentioned the team seemed lost defensively without Williams or Richards on the floor.
Charlotte continues to play short-handed as Terry Rozier & Cody Martin have already been ruled out and Miles Bridges finishes up serving his suspension.
