The Denver Nuggets host the Dallas Mavericks, and the latter will look to win and cover a third game in four matchups against the former.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers head east to face Philadelphia, and the Sixers will look to cover a small spread as home favorites.

Can the Indiana Pacers cover against the visiting Chicago Bulls, and will the Charlotte Hornets and San Antonio Spurs deliver a high-scoring affair?

NBA top picks

The Nuggets and Mavs will meet for a fourth time this season, and Dallas leads the series 2-1. The Mavs blew out the shorthanded Nuggets by 28 on Nov. 18 only to lose in the final seconds of the rematch on Nov. 20. Both games were played in Dallas, but the Mavs also took a rare one-point victory at Ball Arena against a Nuggets team at full strength on Dec. 6.

The Nuggets are 19-10-1 at home and 17-10-1 as home favorites this season. Denver has been great against Western Conference opponents, going 21-17-1 against the spread.

The Mavs are just 12-18 on the road, and the team sports the worst ATS record in the Association at 21-35-3. Despite those concerning trends, the Mavs are 4-2 in games in which they're at least seven-point underdogs.

This should be a great matchup of Western Conference powerhouses, and I'd expect it to be close with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic on the floor for Dallas and Nikola Jokic available for Denver.

Eastern Conference heavyweights come face-to-face Wednesday when the Cavs visit the 76ers in Philly. The 76ers are 19-10-1 at home and 15-10-1 as home favorites. Philly has won and covered in three straight contests. Joel Embiid is listed as questionable, but he's played through his foot injury and appeared in 10 straight contests. He's expected to take the court.

The Cavs are just 12-15-2 ATS on the road and 3-7 as road underdogs this season. The team has won seven straight games, so this won't be a cakewalk for Philly. Cleveland beat Philadelphia by 28 at home on Nov. 30, but the Sixers were missing James Harden and Tyrese Maxey.

Back at full strength and playing in front of the home crowd, we're expecting Philly to emerge victorious and win by at least three Wednesday.

Central Division foes clash, and both teams are desperate for a win. The Bulls have lost four straight, while the Pacers ride a five-game skid into Wednesday's home matchup with Chicago. The teams split their two prior season matchups, and each team covered in one of the head-to-heads.

The Pacers are 18-13 at home and 5-5 as home favorites. The Bulls are 12-15-1 on the road and 11-8-1 as road dogs. The team will be without DeMar DeRozan, and Chicago is just 1-3 straight-up without him this season. The three losses have come by an average of 10.7 points, so Indiana can cover this one comfortably.

Unusually, there is no variance in this spread across our featured books, but we can avoid PointsBet, as it's the only book offering this one at -120 odds rather than the -110 offered everywhere else.

It's always tempting to take the Over in a game played between two offenses that are perceived as “high-scoring,” but this one is a clear Under. Both teams rank in the bottom eight in points per game, and though neither sports a particularly strong defense, there just won't be enough points to go around to hit the lofty Over here.

San Antonio is just 2-2 in games with a total of 240 or more on the road, while Charlotte is 3-6 in games with a total of 240 or higher, including a 1-2 mark at home. The Hornets are just 9-17 as the home team and 1-6 as home favorites. We're taking the Under in this matchup of cellar-dwellers.
