NBA top picks for Sunday

Full disclosure: I picked the Nuggets to win in Memphis on Saturday, and it wasn't exactly my best look. Denver was blown out on the road, but the team is due for a bounce-back performance at Ball A rena. The Nuggets are 11-7 against the spread following a loss and 4-4 during the second game of a back-to-back set. The team boasts one of the best against the spread records at home while going 20-10-1 in Denver. The Nuggets are 3-0 against the Clippers straight up and ATS in 2022-23.

The Clippers lost a brutal double-overtime clash to the Sacramento Kings on Friday in a game that was the second-highest-scoring matchup in NBA history. Los Angeles is just 6-9 ATS following a loss this season. The Clippers are 14-12 as the road dog and just 17-19 against Western Conference opponents.

Denver is due for a rebound performance after such a terrible defeat Saturday night. We're backing the home team.

Golden State has been great at home no matter who's been in the lineup. Stephen Curry remains out, but it 's tough to keep a good team down when Klay Thompson is hot. The Warriors are 18-11-1 at home and 14-11-1 as the home favorite.

Minnesota is just 12-16 ATS on the road and 7-10 as the road dog. Both teams are 3-4 across the last seven contests, and the squads split the previous two meetings in 2022-23. So we should be taking the home team, right? Not so fast.

The Warriors will be without Andrew Wiggins and potentially Draymond Green. No Curry means a greater offensive burden on Jordan Poole and Thompson, but no Wiggins and Green creates a gaping defensive hole. That's why Minnesota can steal this one on the road.

Fresh off a thrilling double-overtime win over Los Angeles, Sacramento is ready to snag a victory on the road over the Thunder. Oklahoma City has been excellent ATS in 2022-23, going 18-11 at home and 9-7 as the home dog. However, the team has gone just 1-3 across its las t four, and it suffered a five-point loss to Sacramento the last time the clubs met.

Meanwhile, the Kings are 17-12 on the road, including a favorable 8-5 ATS record as the visiting favorite. The Kings are 10-3 straight up as the road favorite and 21-13-1 against Western Conference opponents.

Oklahoma City should make this one interesting, but the Kings will ultimately pull away at the end and cover a modest spread on the road.

Nobody likes betting on the Under, but there's no reason to take the Over in this game. The Blazers are 14-6-1 as the home favorite, 17-11-2 at home, and the Over has hit during four of the team's last five outings. Portland is 20-15-2 against Western Conference opponents. So why take the Under?

Houston will once again be without Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. The team will struggle to generate offense while missing its top scorer and floor general, especially against a solid Portland defense. Houston has been averaging just 99 points per game over its last four outings, and I'm always weary of betting the Over on a game with a double-digit spread.
