The Reds also entered the series with the third-fewest home runs per game of any team in the National League. They also averaged fewer runs per game at home compared to on the road before Friday’s offensive explosion. Nationals vs. Padres (-200). Greg’s Line: Nationals +161. The Padres are giving Matt Waldron his first MLB start in place of Michael Wacha with Waldron posting a 7.02 ERA with a 1.65 WHIP for AAA El Paso. Nationals starter Josiah Gray has been at his best on the road, posting a 2.79 ERA with 0.8 home runs per nine innings allowed on the road compared to a 5.17 ERA with two home runs per nine innings allowed at home. Red Sox (-115) vs. White Sox. Greg’s Line: Red Sox -134. White Sox starter Lance Lynn has struggled all season, allowing 1.9 home runs per nine innings with a 6.51 ERA. He has allowed at least three runs in 11 of his last 12 starts. Lynn is backed up by a White Sox lineup with the league’s worst on-base percentage and the 26th-ranked bullpen ERA. Red Sox starter James Paxton has allowed three runs or fewer in six of his seven starts and is striking out 12 batters per nine innings.
