Missouri State at Southern Illinois Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/5/23

The Missouri State Bears will fly over the historic Mark Twain Forest and face the Southern Illinois Salukis in MVC play from the Banterra Center on ESPN+. Missouri State leads the all-time series, 42-38, but Southern Illinois did manage to win in Springfield two weeks ago.

Missouri State moved to 12-11 after defeating Valparaiso. The Bears rallied to push the game to overtime and defeated the Beacons by nine points. Missouri State is scoring 66.2 points per game, while allowing 63.2 ppg, and shooting 43.5% from the floor.

Missouri State has traded their last five games, and they’ll look to abandon that trend here. The Bears are 8-5 in Missouri Valley play, with a 3-6 road record. Missouri State leans on their defense, but the status of Donovan Clay must be monitored heading into Sunday’s game. The senior swingman missed the Valpo game, and while the Bears managed to pick up the victory, he will be needed if they want to take down SIU. Clay has led the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists during conference play. OU transfer Alston Mason has gone off for career-highs in the last two games against Indiana State and Valpo, and he’s up to 9.1 ppg.
