Michigan State vs. Ohio State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-12-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Super Bowl

Big Ten rivals are going to duke it out in Columbus, with the Michigan State Spartans (15-9, 12-12-0 ATS, 7-6 Big Ten) in town to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes (11-13, 8-16-0 ATS, 3-10 Big Ten). These schools haven't met yet this season, but the home team has won the last five matchups overall between them. That should bode well for Ohio State, who is hosting this matchup in Value City Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST.

Michigan State got back in the win column against Maryland, taking down the Terps 63-58. The Spartans scored the first 15 points of the game and managed to hang on after coughing up the lead late in the second half. Joey Hauser finished with 20 points, while A.J. Hoggard flirted with a triple-double, finishing two points and two assists away.

The Spartans have their eyes on the NCAA tournament, projected to earn an eight-seed according to Bracketology's latest update. They'll have to find a way to win on the road though, something they've only done twice in six tries this season. KenPom has them as the 42nd-best team in college basketball right now.

Michigan State plays at one of the slowest paces in the nation, ranking 291st in adjusted tempo. Their offense is among the best at hitting threes, ranking 33rd nationally and third in the Big Ten at 37.3%. However, they only shoot 44.1% from the field, 10th in the conference.

Defensively they're more imposing, holding teams to 41.0% shooting, fifth in the conference and 46th in the country. Just like on offense, they specialize in threes. The Spartans hold foes to 29.4% from beyond the arc, second in the conference and 15th nationwide.
