The Mets' return to the road after Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox ended their three-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are back at Fenway Park following back-to-back losses to the lowly Oakland Athletics, most recently falling 6-5 on Wednesday.

Mets vs Red Sox Betting Trends

  • The Mets are 4-2 straight up (SU) in their last six road games.
  • Boston is 6-0 SU in its last six games against the Mets.
  • The total has hit the Under in eight of the Mets' last 11 road games against Boston.
  • The total has hit the Under in four of Boston's last six games against the NL East.

Mets vs Red Sox Prediction & Pick

A few things are working against the Mets tonight. For starters, they're an abysmal 0-6 SU with a minus-2.5 average run margin in their last six matchups against the Red Sox. Things likely won't get any easier now that Boston has won five straight home games ahead of tonight, averaging seven runs per game.

The Mets also need to find a way to give Kodai Senga some run support. While Senga has impressively pitched to a 2.90 ERA in his last five starts, he only won one of those games due to New York only scoring an average of 1.8 runs per contest.

Scoring runs won't be any easier with Kutter Crawford on the mound for Boston. The Red Sox starting pitcher has been flawless in July, going 2-0 with a 2.87 ERA in three starts thus far.

At the end of the day, I'm taking the Red Sox to prevent their skid from worsening. They're averaging the third-most runs at home in the MLB (5.6) while the Mets have been held to two or fewer runs in three of their last five road games. Even if both starting pitchers perform well, Boston's bats give it the advantage.

Final Score Prediction:'Red Sox: 4 | Mets: 3

Met s vs Red Sox Best Bet

I'm taking the Red Sox to win by 1-3 runs (+170) as the best bet. They've been red-hot at home and have had the Mets' number, so asking for a win isn't too much. Having said that, Senga is a strong pitcher and should be able to keep things relatively close for the Mets, highlighted by four of his last five starts being decided by one to three runs, regardless of the outcome.

The Red Sox have the edge, but don't expect it to be a complete blowout.
