Marshall at Coastal Carolina – 2/9/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Marshall Thundering Herd will head down to Conway to meet the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in Sun Belt action from The HTC Center on ESPN+. Marshall won the first meeting this season in Huntington last month, 81-66.

Marshall moved to 19-6 after losing to Louisiana in Lafayette. The Thundering Herd found themselves trailing the Ragin’ Cajuns at the break, and they ended up falling by ten points. Marshall is scoring 81.5 points per game, while allowing 69.8 ppg, and shooting 46.5% from the field.

Marshall will look to respond to their largest loss of the season here, and they avoid falling apart with the conference tournament right around the corner. The Thundering Herd are 8-4 in Sun Belt play, with a solid 6-4 road record. Marshall is led by the dynamic backcourt pairing of Taevion Kinsey and Andrew Taylor. Kinsley scored 27 points in the first win over Coastal, and after mirroring that performance last time out versus ULL, he now leads the Sun Belt in scoring (21.4), while also leading the team in assists (5.6). Taylor has been very consistent alongside him this season, and after scoring 20 points or more in four of the last six games, he’s up to 18.8 ppg. Freshman center Micah Handlogten has been effective on the block, and he’s among conference leaders in rebounding (10.5), while scoring 8.4 ppg.
