These two teams met just last week and split what was an exciting four-game series in Seattle. The Mariners then took two of three games from the Toronto Blue Jays over the weekend, while the Twins swept the Chicago White Sox in dominating fashion. Which team will gain an edge this time around?

Mariners vs Twins Prediction & Pick

It's a rematch on the mound as Luis Castillo and Kenta Maeda both draw a start on Monday. These two went to work on July 19 in what ended up being a 6-3 win for Minnesota. Maeda allowed only 2 runs over 6.1 innings (9 strikeouts), while Castillo gave up 3 runs over 6.0 innings (11 strikeouts).

It was a peak into what Castillo has been doing all year as the All-Star sports a 3.04 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 20 starts (6-7 record). However, it was a welcome change of pace for Maeda as he still owns a 5.10 ERA and 1.25 WHIP on the year (2-5 record). Various injuries have led to some inconsistency.

This game could truly go either way, but I'll ultimately side with the road team. Maeda has given up a whopping 15 earned runs over his last three home starts and Castillo has allowed only six earned runs in his last three road starts. The difference on the mound is too big to ignore on Monday night.

Final Score Prediction:'Mariners: 5 | Twins: 3

Mariners vs Twins Best Bet

Both Maeda and Castillo excelled at getting batters to swing and miss or look at strikes in the last matchup five days ago. Backing them to each find similar success on Monday is a great way to go. Castillo has logged at least 6 strikeouts in 10 of his last 12 starts and Maeda has done the same in four of his last five starts. These two offenses rank 29th and 30th in batter strikeouts per game, too.
