The Seattle Mariners travel to Oakland to begin a series with the Athletics Tuesday.
This is a spot for the Mariners to get right. Seattle, my pick to win the American League West, enters play Tuesday in fourth place at 12-16 on the season. It’s still early so there’s plenty of time for Seattle to turnaround and make another playoff appearance building on the strong season they had last year.
I can’t say the same about Oakland. The Athletics are 6-23, 11.5 games back in the division race already. It’s still early, of course, but that team is likely hopeless.
