Varland will take the mound tomorrow for the visiting Twins, sliding into the spot vacated by Tyler Mahle, who was just shut down with an elbow injury. He sported a 4.20 ERA and 25:4 K-BB ratio in 15 innings with Triple-A St. Paul. In his lone big league start this year against the New York Yankees, Varland surrendered three runs on six hits with eight strikeouts in six innings.
