The Kraken have been better than the sum of their parts for most of the season. But that's finally catching up to them and being reflected in their recent results.
Seattle's team shooting percentage at five-on-five has been taking a hit. The Kraken paced the league (10.8%) entering the All-Star Break, but they've dipped to 7.7% through nine games since. It's been the same story in goal. Seattle's team save percentage has dropped from .916 before the break to .897 following it.
The Kraken aren't beating quality teams either. They sport an active record of 1-7-1 against clubs occupying a playoff position dating back to mid-January. Seattle simply lacks the star power to contend with the league's top teams, and Toronto packs the punch to go toe-to-toe with any club.
There's a huge special-teams mismatch in this contest, too. Toronto ranks fourth in power-play percentage (25.4%), and Seattle enters with the 31st-ranked penalty-kill unit (72.6%).
