Los Angeles Lakers vs. Portland Trail Blazers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-13-2023

Los Angeles Lakers (26-31) vs. Portland Trail Blazers (27-29)

The 2022-23 NBA season continues on Monday, February 13, with the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Portland Trail Blazers in this Western Conference battle at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. The Trail Blazers enter the contest as 2.5-point favorites with the total set at 235.5.

The teams have met three times this season with Los Angeles winning each of the last two that includes a 121-112 victory in Portland on January 22 where the Trail Blazers were favored by 6.0 and the total was set at 239.0.

The Los Angeles Lakers (26-31, 26-30-1 ATS) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 109-103 victory over Golden State on Saturday. This was a first of a two-game road trip for the club which concludes in Portland on Monday. With the victory, the Lakers moved to 13-17 on the road this season. The team shot 44.9% from the field but won this game at the line, where they went 21-26 while Golden State was 11-12.

“It was a little weird but I'm trying to normalize it,” said D’Angelo Russell. “The sooner the better. I've been in this situation. … After that first stint you kind of get comfortable again. When you get traded so many times the irony comes back with all these teams and just kind of normalize it.”

Russell made an immediate impact in his first game with the Lakers, scoring 15 points and adding six assists in 35 minutes. Lebron James sat out the game and is still day-to-day, but Dennis Schroder picked up the slack, scoring 26 points and Anthony Davis had a double-double, scoring 13 points and adding 16 rebounds.

Los Angeles sits in 13th place in the Western Conference, two games behind Oklahoma City for the final playoff spot. Los Angeles is averaging 106.3 points per 100 possessions and is at 117.0 points per game this season, seventh overall. The problem is that this team is not very good defensively, ranked 27th at 118.3 points allowed per contest and they have been slightly worse in the conference (allowed 118.3 per game).
