Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 6-21-2023

Los Angeles Dodgers (39-33) vs. Los Angeles Angels (41-33)

The 2023 Major League Baseball season continues Wednesday, June 21, with the Los Angeles Dodgers facing off against the Los Angeles Angels in the interleague battle at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.

The first pitch is set for 9:38 PM ET. The Blue Crew and Halos close down a two-game series, and Tuesday’s opener has been excluded from the analysis.

The 39-33 Los Angeles Dodgers entered Tuesday’s game at Angel Stadium hoping to snap a three-game skid. They just got swept by the San Francisco Giants in a three-game set at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers have surrendered a whopping 29 runs to the Giants while scoring just eight in return. It’s been a few rough weeks for the Dodgers, who have dropped ten of their previous 14 games overall.

The Boys in Blue are slashing an underwhelming .233/.322/.381 with 17 doubles and 15 home runs in the last couple of weeks and 420 at-bats. Their pitching staff has registered a bloated 5.70 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in that span, and the Dodgers’ bullpen has been particularly bad, tallying a 6.75 ERA over the last 52 innings of work.

The Dodgers haven’t announced who’ll get the starting call Wednesday. They might go with a bullpen day or give Emmet Sheehan a nod. Sheehan made his major-league debut last Friday, tossing six scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Giants. The 23-year-old right-hander holds a stellar 1.86 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in ten starts and a pair of relief appearances (53.1 innings pitched) in triple-A this season.
