Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-24-2023

The Los Angeles Dodgers (30-19, 27-22 RL, 27-21-1 O/U) collide with the Atlanta Braves (29-18, 20-27 RL, 28-19 O/U) in an NL showdown on Wednesday evening. The Dodgers will give the starting nod to Tony Gonsolin. The Braves will reply with Bryce Elder. The Dodgers recorded an 8-6 win on Monday.

The Dodgers will have Tony Gonsolin starting on Wednesday evening. Gonsolin continues to silence the opposition, recording five shutout innings against a hot Cardinals offense last week, and earned the win to improve to 2-1. The young right-hander has been incredible, posting 17 consecutive scoreless innings, and now has a dazzling 1.13 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 24 innings pitched on the season. He has only allowed two home runs. Gonsolin has dominated the Braves in his career, allowing only two runs in 15 innings accompanied by a 1-0 record.

Los Angeles is in the middle of a daunting 10-game road trek against strong opponents. They lost three of four to the Cardinals this past weekend due to pitching issues. They are dealing with several key injuries including Dustin May and Julio Urias to name a few. The offense scored 23 runs in the series against the Cardinals.

JD Martinez has been an RBI machine, knocking in nine runs in his last eight games. The veteran DH is having a productive season in his first year in LA, bashing six homers with 27 RBIs and an .876 OPS. Martinez went 4 for 17 with three RBIs against the Braves last season and delivered two homers in Monday's victory.

The Dodgers are posting an average of 5.47 runs per game, good for third. The pitching staff is carrying a 4.32 team ERA, placing them 18th.
