After winning back-to-back home games, the Lakers (28-32) hit the road for an important trip that begins with a meeting against the Mavericks (32-39) on Sunday. Both teams made significant moves prior to the trade deadline, and the results have been immediate with improved play.
But Los Angeles hasn't really faced a major challenge, so this is the team's first chance to pick up a signature win against the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Mavs are looking to avoid the play-in tournament, with the duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving leading the way.

Lakers vs. Mavericks player props
Green's playing time has increased since Irving arrived in Dallas, as he's been on the floor 38-plus minutes in four of the six games. He's been making the most of it, knocking down multiple 3-pointers in four of those contests. Green has finished in double figures four times t oo, which is why his scoring prop is set at 10.5.
Yet I prefer taking the Over on his 3-pointers against a Lakers defense that ranks 20th in the league while allowing 12.7 3-pointers per game. With Luka and Irving as the primary focus, that opens the door for some kick-out threes from the supporting cast, and role players tend to perform better at home.
This plus-money prop is tantalizing through any sportsbook, but let's take the +125 offering at DraftKings for the best deal. The Over is priced at -105 through other books, suggesting there's some serious value in this three-star pick.

You read that right: I'm taking the Under on the points prop for the best player in this game.
Doncic leads the league in scoring while averaging 33.2 points per game, and he' s cleared this mark in two of his four contests playing alongside Irving. So why am I taking the Under?
Jarred Vanderbilt, who was acquired from the Utah Jazz in the Russell Westbrook trade, is expected to serve as the primary defender against Donic. Vanderbilt has fared well against him in the past, as Luka is averaging 21.8 points over six meetings. I also expect the Lakers to throw a bunch of different looks at Doncic.
The playmaker only scored 28 in a game when his team finished with 142 last time out. He'll struggle to crack the 30-point threshold once again.
Betting odds are typically aligned between our top-rated sportsbooks for star players, and Doncic is no exception. But FanDuel's offering saves us a few cents compared to the rest of the shops.
Trying to predict when Davis will be locked in is perhaps the most difficult proposition. You ca n call me a fool, but I think we get a dominant performance from Davis during Sunday's nationally-televised game that his team so desperately needs to win.
Davis has recorded at least two blocks in four consecutive contests, which includes a pair of three-block performances. He's only scored 20-plus points in one of those outings, but that isn't subtracting from his defensive effort.
Additionally, only two teams have been blocked more than the Mavs, who are averaging 3.9 blocks against per game.
There isn't much of a discount when taking Davis' steals and blocks combo prop of 2.5, as the Over is being priced at -135 through DraftKings. So just take his line of 1.5 blocks at -140, as this four-star pick has a great chance of getting home.
