LAFC hosts Austin FC on Sunday in a MLS Western Conference Cup playoffs final. LAFC defeated the LA Galaxy 3-2 in its conference semifinal. LAFC has won 10 of its last 11 matches at home with only a loss to Nashville on decision day after already clinching the Supporters' Shield. LAFC's only two victories in the postseason have been over the LA Galaxy in 2019 and 2022.
LAFC has lost two of its four playoff matches played at home while losing only nine matches in 79 matches at home overall with 50 wins and 20 draws. Cristian Arango scored in the 93rd minute for LAFC to give the club the victory over the LA Galaxy. Arango has 31 goals since debuting a year ago this past August for LAFC, which is 19 more than any teammate over that span.
Austin FC finished second in the regular season to LAFC in the Western Conference and is coming off a victory over FC Dallas in the conference semifinal. Austin is only the third expansion club in the history of the MLS to advance in' each of its first two rounds of playoff play. Since Austin's shootout win in the first round is considered a tie, the Texas based club has not won consecutive matches since July.
Austin has not won on the road since July 30 with four consecutive losses away from home and has been held scoreless in each of its most recent three road matches, and being outscored in the four 10-1. Austin took 38 shots against Real Salt Lake and added another 18 versus Dallas last Sunday. The 56 shots taken in two matches by Austin are the most in MLS history over in the same postseason.'
