Kansas Posts Sports Betting Handle Of 0 Million For January

The Kansas Lottery reported sports betting handle of nearly $240 million for January on Thursday, as ESPN BET and BetMGM ran neck-and-neck for the No. 3 spot among the state’s six mobile operators.

The Sunflower State surpassed $3 billion in all-time wagers, reaching the benchmark in 17 months of betting. January handle was up 16.3% compared to the opening month of 2023 while also down 8.4% versus the $259.7 million generated in December. It was the fifth consecutive month Kansas handle cleared $200 million.

The state’s four retail operators and six bettoing apps combined for a statewide hold of 8.7%, resulting in $20.9 million in gross revenue. The state levied its 10% tax on $14.3 million in adjusted gross revenue, resulting in an inflow of more than $1.4 million into state coffers.
