Winnipeg was comfortably in a playoff position a couple of weeks ago, but that's not the case anymore. After dropping five of their last eight games – including the aforementioned 4-2 defeat in New Jersey, when the Jets let a 2-1 third-period lead slip away – Winnipeg is just two points ahead of Colorado for second place in the Central Division, and only six points clear of Calgary for a wild-card spot.

That should create a sense of urgency for Winnipeg to turn things around Monday, while the Rangers aren't in an ideal spot to bring their best effort. New York is playing its fourth game in six nights, is coming off back-to-back overtime games, and just got back from a four-game road trip that included three on the west coast.

The Rangers also saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end Saturday in Calgary, although the shootout loss was enough to extend their point streak to 10 straight games (8-0-2).

New York has lost 20 of its last 29 home games immediately following a road trip of seven days or more, and the Rangers have given up at least three goals in 12 of their last 16 games at MSG. Even with backup David Rittich projected to start in net, I'll gladly back the motivated Jets to pull off the outright upset at +140 odds or higher.
