Iowa vs. Minnesota Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 2-12-2023

Once Upon A Time In Las Vegas – Super Bowl

Iowa will try to bounce back from a loss to top-ranked Purdue when it travels to Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. The Hawkeyes had their three-game winning streak snapped in their loss to the Boilermakers. Minnesota has been the worst team in the Big Ten, riding a seven-game losing skid coming into this matchup.

Iowa cannot afford to slip up on Sunday afternoon, as the Hawkeyes are trying to build an NCAA Tournament resume during the final month of the regular season. They got off to a slow start in conference play when they lost their first three games, but they bounced back with a four-game winning streak. Their inconsistency showed up again last month, as they lost to Ohio State and Michigan State. However, they responded with a three-game winning streak over Rutgers, Northwestern and Illinois before suffering a loss to No. 1 Purdue on Thursday. Iowa was unable to cover the 7.5-point spread in the 87-73 final.

The Hawkeyes have relied on their offense throughout the season, ranked fifth in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. They love to push the ball in transition, but they have still been able to maintain the eighth-lowest turnover rate in the country. Iowa is shooting 52.0% from 2-point range and 34.9% from 3-point range—it will be facing a Minnesota defense that is No. 336 in turnover rate and No. 296 in rebounding. Junior forward Kris Murray leads Iowa with 20.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while senior forward Filip Rebraca is averaging 14.0 points and 8.0 rebounds. Tony Perkins (11.4) and Patrick McCaffery (11.2) are both in double figures as well.
