The Indiana Gaming Commission reported on Friday $503.1 million in sports betting handle for December, marking the first time the Hoosier State has generated over a half-billion dollars worth of bets in back-to-back months.

The figure is 2.1% lower than November’s record $513.7 million in accepted wagers but also marked a 16.6% increase compared to the final month of 2022. The surge in action narrowed the year-over-year decline in Indiana sports betting handle to 2.9%, as bettors made $4.34 billion worth of wagers in 2023 compared to $4.47 billion the year before.

Adjusted gross revenue for operators totaled $50.6 million, trailing only the $51.2 million generated in September 2022. There were nearly $4 million worth of downward adjustments from the $54.6 million in gross revenue, with more than $2.8 million reported by Blue Chip Casino – home to the FanDuel mobile betting app.
