Houston Texans 2022 futures: Super Bowl odds, win total picks, best bets, schedule and more

Sorry Texans fans, it's going to be another rough season. The team's roster resembles more of a minor league football squad than an NFL squad. The spectacle that is the Houston franchise pulled an offseason move that surprised even those closest to the team. They fired head coach David Culley, and after a lengthy period replaced him with the team's defensive coordinator, former Bears and Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith. Culley seemingly did a good job with a poor roster, so the move was a head-scratcher.'

Houston, despite m issing franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson, somehow managed to win four games in 2021. The offseason haul they got from Cleveland for Watson will help the rebuilding process in the long term, but the Texans' best course of action in 2022 would be to play competitive games and lose. With a strong quarterback class projected in the 2023 draft, Houston might be in position to draft the long-term heir apparent to Watson. Unfortunately, incumbent Davis Mills doesn't appear to have NFL stardom in his likely career projection.

The schedule isn't too rough by NFL standards, but Caesars Sportsbook's projection of 4.5 wins might be a bit optimistic. There doesn't appear to be much value in laying money on Houston missing the playoffs, so the win total over/under is likely'the smartest bet. If Mills takes a step forward and the offense overachieves, five or six wins might be the ceiling.
